TIMECODE:NOLA’S FILM CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP SERIES WILL TAKE PLACE SATURDAY 4/18 AT THE US MINT. LOCAL FF|3 FILM SCREENINGS WILL BE HELD ALL DAY ON THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE MINT WHILE THE FILM CONFERENCE TAKES PLACE ON THE SECOND FLOOR FROM 10AM-5PM.  DISCUSSIONS WITH LEADING CINEMATOGRAPHERS, EDITORS, DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS, AND MORE. HAND-ONS SOUND, CAMERA, AND EDITING WORKSHOPS ALONG WITH INDUSTRY VENDOR BOOTHS SHOWCASING THE LATEST IN CINEMA PRODUCTION FOR INDIE FILMMAKERS.

This year Timecode:NOLA is hosting a day of workshops during our Film Conference which will give a hands on approach to our filmmakers. From Painting with Light to learning  what techniques & equipment indie filmmakers can use to get big budget looks on a tight budget, we’ll give all attendees a crash course in production & post to get the most out of their filmmaking no matter what their budget and genre dictates. Also attendees will get to see free film screenings all day in the theater at The Mint.

10:00am – DOORS OPEN – Speak to representatives from local & international film companies and organizations including Avid, CTG, Pro Sound, 4:4:4 Camera, IATSE, NOVAC, Implicated Studios, Sumerian Lights and more.
10:30am – PAINTING WITH LIGHT – Jake Ramirez of Sumerian Lights shows his incredible techniques of long exposure photography like you’ve never seen before. Find out how to light paint in this experimental workshop for the first time ever in New Orleans.
11:45am – BIG BUDGET LOOKS ON AN MICRO-BUDGET – this DP workshop in conjunction with 4:4:4 Camera will explore the latest equipment & techniques to push your indie film to the next level. Want to know more about drones, camera gimbals like the Movi or Ronin, mechanical sliders or new 4K cameras? Come see the latest gear & what you can do with it as our DPs show you what’s possible in cinematography on a micro-budget.

1:00pm – AVID WORKSHOP – the industry leaders in professional editing will take you on a tour of Avid Media Composer by Avid editor Michael Krulik. Forget searching forums online to answer your editing questions, get your answers directly from the source. This is your chance to learn Media Composer straight from an Avid editor.

2:15pm – MOONBOT STUDIOS ANIMATION WORKSHOP – Oscar winning animator Russell Smith will teach a workshop focused on of Moonbot Studio’s award winning animated films. Learn the creative side of animated storytelling with this unique workshop.
3:30pm – AUDIO WORKSHOP BY PRO SOUND – Sound recordist are the unsung heroes of the film crew. An audience can live with a poor shot but no audience will sit through a film with poor sound. Often overlooked and misunderstood, audio recording can make or break a film, yet its often viewed as secondary to the camera department. Learn from the experts the right way to record sound on location as well as navigate wireless audio with Justin Ditch of Pro Sound’s New Orleans.
